Privacy

Dead Simple Computing Ltd (trading as Dead Simple Components, company 11670139, Unit 6, 60 Portman Road, Reading RG30 1EA) is the data controller for this shop. We are ISO/IEC 27001 certified (certificate 00508-ISMS-001), and this shop is run under that management system.

What we collect and why

  • To fulfil your order: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, telephone number and the items ordered. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
  • To take payment: handled entirely by Shopify Payments or the payment provider you choose. We never see or store card numbers.
  • To run your account: your email address and order history, if you sign in. Sign-in is by one-time code; we hold no password.
  • To keep the shop working and secure: server logs, and the analytics Shopify provides. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
  • Marketing: only if you ask for it, and you can stop it from any email.

Who we share it with

  • Shopify Inc., which hosts the shop, the checkout and your account.
  • Our UK distributor and its couriers, who receive your name, delivery address, telephone number and the items, so that your order can be despatched to you directly.
  • Payment providers, to process your payment and any refund.
  • Nobody else, unless the law requires it.

Where it is kept and for how long

Order records are kept for six years after the order, as HMRC requires. Our order-forwarding system holds your delivery details only for as long as forwarding and reconciliation need, then removes them. Data is held in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area; where a provider processes data elsewhere, it does so under the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

Your rights

You may ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict processing, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Write to shop@deadsimplecomputing.co.uk or to the address above.
