Refund policy

Returns and refunds

This policy applies to purchases from Dead Simple Components, a trading name of Dead Simple Computing Ltd (company 11670139), Unit 6, 60 Portman Road, Reading RG30 1EA. It sits alongside your statutory rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and never reduces them.

Changed your mind

If you are a consumer you may cancel an order for any reason within 14 days of the day you receive it. To qualify, goods must be unopened, unused and in their original packaging with all accessories, seals and documentation.

Start a return from your account: choose the order, the items and the reason. Most requests are decided within minutes and you will receive an email with the return address and instructions. Return postage for a change of mind is paid by you; we recommend a tracked service, as goods are your responsibility until they reach us.

We refund the price paid, and the standard delivery charge if the whole order is returned, within 14 days of receiving the goods, to the original payment method. We may reduce a refund where goods have been handled beyond what is needed to inspect them, for example software installed, components fitted, or packaging destroyed.

What cannot be returned for a change of mind

The Regulations exempt the following, and so do we:

  • Software and licences once the seal is broken or the key has been activated or revealed.
  • Custom-built and configured systems, which are made to your specification.
  • Consumables such as ink, toner and cleaning products once opened.

These items are marked as final sale on their product page. If any of them arrives faulty, the section below applies in full.

Faulty, damaged or not as described

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you are entitled to a full refund for goods that are faulty, damaged in transit or not as described, if you tell us within 30 days of delivery. After 30 days and up to six months we will repair or replace, and refund if that is not possible. Return postage for faulty goods is paid by us. Requests reporting a fault are approved automatically; where a manufacturer's warranty applies for longer, we will help you use it.

Business customers

Purchases made in the course of a business are not covered by the consumer cancellation right. We consider change-of-mind returns from business customers case by case, normally within 14 days for unopened goods and subject to a restocking charge where the distributor applies one. Faulty goods are handled exactly as above.

Where goods go

All returns come to our Reading address above, not to the manufacturer or distributor. Please include the returns reference from your email inside the parcel.
